There is nothing more horrible than trying to put on your makeup in bad florescent lighting. Or event lighting that is overhead and casts a dark shadow on half your face. This make contouring impossible and not to mention that you could end up with too much or too little makeup on after!

While I recommended staying the hell away from large magnified mirrors…as they tend to cause obsession and lead to depression over the years. I do recommend lighted mirrors! You need good soft even white coated bulbs all the way around the mirror. The goal is to eliminate shadow and get as close to natural day light as possible. You might want to also spring for a dimmer so that you can see your look how it would be seen in the dim party or a night club.

Magnifying mirrors are left for plucking eyebrows only. In fact, even then I think it’s best to just use a normal mirror. If you can’t see normally and your eye sight isn’t half bad, why spend the extra time to puke it? Just saying.

I recommend the following or to just make one yourself! Buy and mount a large mirror and then put bulbs that are good and coated white for the best lighting.
